Two Finals for Poland in U21 Categories on Day 2 of EKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships

The U21 categories of the 2025 EKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships being held in Bielsko-Biala, Poland showcase future stars who are pushing the limits of the sport. Day 2 saw intense battles as competitors in the U21 divisions fought their way to the finals.
U21 Kumite Male -60 kg: Hamill vs. Siljak
Scotland’s Adam Hamill booked his spot in the final with a 3-1 win over Montenegro’s Balsa Vojinovic. His opponent, Kenan Siljak of Bosnia and Herzegovina, secured a 4-2 victory against Belgium’s Amin Abdelmalki. Both showed sharp tactical skills and aggressive attacks, setting up a promising final.
U21 Kumite Male -67 kg: Matingou vs. Baliotis
France’s Isaac Matingou dominated his semi-final, defeating Germany’s Muhammed Oezdemir 6-1 with powerful attacks. Greece’s Georgios Baliotis was equally commanding, shutting out Italy’s Raffaele Astarita 7-0. Their clash for gold will be a test of speed and precision.
U21 Kumite Male -75 kg: Fernandes vs. Pitsul
Bernardo Pineu Lopes Fernandes of Portugal edged North Macedonia’s Ljupche Mihajlov 3-2 in a close match. On the other side, Ukraine’s Heorhii Pitsul overpowered the Netherlands’ Sebastiaan Van Teeffelen with a strong 6-1 performance.
U21 Kumite Male -84 kg: Patrick vs. Vasiliou
England’s Ashton Patrick controlled his semi-final, taking a 3-1 win over Serbia’s Mihajlo Vasilic. Cyprus’ Loizos Vasiliou matched that score against France’s Issa Lardjoum. With both finalists showing steady defence and well-timed strikes, their battle for gold will be tightly contested.
U21 Kumite Male +84 kg: Gelashvili vs. Avanzini
Georgia’s Merabi Gelashvili delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day, winning 8-0 against Luxembourg’s Alexander Davies. Italy’s Matteo Avanzini secured his final spot with a 3-0 victory over Spain’s Borja Gutierrez Marques.
U21 Kumite Female -50 kg: Tsaneva vs. Breuzard
Bulgaria’s Teodora Tsaneva was unstoppable in her semi-final, defeating Switzerland’s Lea Huber 7-0. France’s Chloe Breuzard had a harder path, advancing after a 5-5 tiebreak win over Ukraine’s Valeriia Sergaieva.
U21 Kumite Female -55 kg: Dronchanka vs. Kvasnicova
Poland’s Kseniya Dronchanka edged Croatia’s Ana Lujic 1-0 in a defensive battle. Slovakia’s Nina Kvasnicova had a more decisive victory, overcoming Türkiye’s Buse Kilic 5-1. The final will be a celebration of Polish karate.
U21 Kumite Female -61 kg: Otero Luengo vs. Osadchuk
Spain’s Eva Otero Luengo outscored Serbia’s Nevena Filipov 6-4 in a dynamic match. Ukraine’s Natalia Osadchuk controlled her semi-final, beating Slovakia’s Anna Vaczy 4-0.
U21 Kumite Female -68 kg: Riedel vs. Mustafa
Germany’s Hannah Riedel secured her spot in the final with a measured 3-0 win over Croatia’s Adriana Ross. Kosovo’s Behije Mustafa displayed impressive offense, taking a 10-3 victory over Türkiye’s Huri Gul Temizel.
U21 Kumite Female +68 kg: Pergolesi vs. Daniszewska
Italy’s Asia Pergolesi controlled her semi-final against Romania’s Maria Cristina Coman, winning 6-3. Poland’s Julia Daniszewska was even more dominant, claiming a 7-1 victory over Sweden’s Sophie Bao Bednarski. Daniszewska gave local fans more reasons to celebrate in the second final for the host country today.
As the competition moves into its final stages, these young athletes are proving the tremendous strength of Karate at young ages.
