List of Karate athletes to participate at World Combat Games announced

The World Karate Federation has announced the list of athletes to participate in the Karate competition of the 2023 World Combat Games.

After the completion of the qualification process, the full list of 96 athletes to compete at the 2023 World Combat Games has been revealed. No less than 42 countries will be represented at the Karate competition of the 2023 World Combat Games, a testament to the popularity of the sport around the world.

 

Limited to athletes in U21 categories, some of the most promising karatekas in the world will fight for gold at the event. The list of frontrunners for the event includes current African champion and Senior World Championships bronze medallist Abdel Ali Jina of Morocco in Male Kumite -60kg, current Senior continental champion and U21 World Championships runner-up Reem Khamis of Germany, four-time Karate 1-Premier League medallist Sakichi Abe of Japan in Male Kata, two-time U21 continental championships runner-up and U21 World Championships bronze medallist Ema Sgardelli of Croatia in Female Kumite -50kg, and current U21 World champion and two-time Senior continental championships runner-up Louiza Abouriche of Algeria in Female Kumite -55kg, among many others.

 

The Karate competition at the 2023 World Combat Games is scheduled for October 20 to 21. The biggest multi-sport event for combat sports, the World Combat Games will be held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) from October 20 to 30. No less than 16 combat sports are included in the programme.
